Round 1 Update Daytona
The Team arrived to the track Wednesday and began setup and final preparations for the start of the 2011 AMA Superbike series in Daytona Fl. After many weeks of hard work designing, building, allocating and structuring the team, our Bikes rolled out of the new transporter ready to impress. The excitement of starting a new chapter of Aussie Dave Racing was upon us and it was time to get the ball rolling.
Thursday morning saw rain early clearing out by 2:00 allowing for a 50min session for practice/qualifying. With few laps put in and even fewer changes to the bikes, All qualified and were in for the races featuring four ADR/Fly machines on the Superbike grid.
Dave Anthony: Position 13, Chris Trounson: Position 15, Jordy Burgess: Position 17, Johnny Rock Page: Position 20
Race time was abound, the boys were ready, the green flag dropped and everyone got off the line unscathed and headed into turn 1. After jockeying for position through the infield turns, racing stopped as a red flag was put out due to four riders crashing in turns 4 and 5. Unfortunately Chris Trounson was a part of one of the incidents and his weekend ended short with a broken Collar Bone. He is in good spirits and is looking forward to returning for the next round as his injury should be healed during the break of the season.
After a complete restart and some great racing, Dave anthony finished 10th, Jordy Burgess 14th and Johnny Rock page 19th for the day.
Saturday was a beautiful day with temperatures comfortable and Sunny! The green flag dropped and the boys worked hard to position themselves for what turned out to be another great AMA Superbike race! Dave fought hard to maintain a ninth place finish ending up 8th in the points for the combined results of the weekend. Jordy had a slight mechanical on the bike but stuck it out for a 19th place finish and Johnny Rock ended the weekend with a 20th place finish putting ADR/Fly in a good position for the next round of action coming up May 13 – 15 at Infineon Raceway, Sonoma, CA.
Aussie Dave Racing would like to thank all involved for our weekend of success. A big thank you to all our partners who support our program this year and we look forward to promoting your products and image throughout the 2011 Season! Posters will be printed soon and please keep up with us on our website and our facebook fan page!
