JUNE 5-7 2009 Road America
Elkhart Lakes, WI
Length: 4.048 miles

Road America is a legendary fixture in the racing community. Racers relish the circuit's challenging turns, curves and high-speed straights. The track follows the sweeping, rolling hills of the glacially-formed terrain riders with dramatic elevation changes. The buzz for the weekend was RAIN RAIN RAIN…. And that it did. Another thing to deal with was 45 degree weather in June! But as usual, we overcame it all and put on a great show for our fans and sponsors!

Unfortunately, Hawk Mazzotta was unable to attend this round for personal reasons, but will be back for round 7 at Laguna Seca competing on his number 121 Suzuki GSXR 1000.

Trent Gibson is the newest rider joining our team and will compete in American Superbike on board the number 52 Suzuki GSXR 1000. You can read the full article from Roadracing world all about Trent and his opportunity to ride in the states by following this link. http://www.roadracingworld.com/news/article/?lnk=rss&article=36628

Practice times for both riders started coming down by the seconds as they changed gearing, tuned the bikes and sorted out the race line around this 4 mile plus track. It’s all about speed here and both riders reached speeds of up to 165 mph plus on the front stretch showing good times and consistent laps.

The Team was on top in times and qualifying for our Second running of the MOTO GT endurance series and going in to the race on Saturday, we were unstoppable. This did prove to change however about 15 laps into the race when the tire fell apart on us and we ended up low siding the bike in turn 1 ending our chances of a first place victory. Chin up and spirits still good, it was time to concentrate on the Superbike race coming up and make sure we have a good showing for all our fans and sponsors.

Race one was wet!! With the rain continuing to come down all day on Saturday, there was no question of tire choice as all the teams in the paddock removed the slicks and put on rain tires for the race. Aussie’s are known for riding fast in the wet and both avid and Trent put their heads down and came home unscathed in a literal crash fest, to the Finish. David placed 8th just behind Aaron Yates and Ryan Elleby. Trent, in his first superbike race in America, ended in the 21st position proving to himself that he can compete in the AMA and had a lot of fun doing so!

Race two was dry but still a cold one! The pack spread out really quickly, as it usually does with a 2 and a half minute lap time. Both riders settled in and turned lap after lap crossing the finish in a respectable 10th and 17th positions. This put Dave in 9th overall in the Superbike points maintain a healthy lead over Knapp by 23 points and just behind Factory Suzuki’s Black young by 23 points.

We’re looking forward to round 6 at Laguna Seca and with your support of our efforts, we plan to show good solid results!
