April 3-5 Road Atlanta

Braselton, GA

Road Atlanta… fast, difficult and heart pounding fun! Both riders have been training hard for this event knowing that the stakes are getting greater and the antes are being upped by all teams. Going into this event, it’s all been new and different and now we are at a track that Dave and Hawk both know well and it’s time to put our heads down, do what we do and have a good successful weekend. Our goal is Superploe and as always, top ten finishes for both riders.

Qualifying proved to be very good for David as we got our first top ten position and moved on to superpole later in the afternoon. We came out unscathed and locked in an impressive 10th position going into race 1 and the excitement of superpole carried on to Saturday morning’s practice where we were 8th quickest on the board. Hawk struggled a bit in qualifying dipping the front in the later part of the session, but came back Saturday morning to qualify in the 17th spot on the grid. With the rain behind us, race 1 was an exciting march to the finish with Dave finishing 9th, just behind Yamaha’s Ben Bostrom and 8 seconds ahead of 10th place Team Corona Honda’s Jake Holden and Roadracing World Suzuki’s Chris Ulrich in 11th. The battle for Hawk came down to the last laps passing Scotty Jenson and Aaron Gobert for a 14th place finish behind Hooters Suzuki’s Ryan Elleby.

The second race of the weekend was hard fought as the riders really spread out in the closing laps of the race. Hawk came around Scotty Jenson on the last lap to finish 14th while David chased down Team Foremost Ducati’s Larry Pegram and almost had him in the end, falling in behind for an 11th place finish. Both riders overcame wind and rain and ran a good clean and consistent race earning them both valuable points in the championship chase. We left Road Atlanta very satisfied and look forward to some time off before Barber; however, it will be short lived as we have big plans for our truck in the next few weeks! Currently we are 9th in the points and leading the way for all non factory supported teams.
